The town is located very close to the Yantra River, in the central Danube Plain. Polski Trambesh translates to "Trambesh of the fields", as opposed to Gorski Goren Trambesh "Upper Trambesh of the forests" and Gorski Dolen Trambesh "lower Trambesh of the forests". It is unclear whether Polski Trambesh developed as a settlement pre-Ottoman times but in 1865 it was a small settlement of 40-50 properties whose population consisted of Bulgarians and Turks. The early construction of the Ruse-Gorna Oryahovitsa rail line ensued its further development when the route opened in 1917 and the village developed into a trading centre with industry establishing after World War I. Polski Trambesh was declared a town in 1964.

What to do in Polski Trambesh:
The local Mineral water is an invaluable source of health and in May 1970 drilling led to the discovery of the hyper-thermal aquifer starting at 750 metres to a depth of 1515 m, the water is discharged to the surface from a 2nd "reservoir" at around 25 metres deep and the temperature is between 44-47 °C. The flow of the thermal mineral water is 50 to 60 liters per second, wheras in the famous Hissar and Kyustendil the flow rate is only 43 litres per second put together! The "Louis Pasteur" centre for medicinal treatments in France recognises that mineral water in France possesses valuable medicinal properties for many different human ailments and analysis has shown varied mineral constituents in the Polski Trambesh water comparable and in some cases favouravbly exceeding these recognised quantities of bromine, potassium, sodium, calcium, chloride, magnesium, iron, manganese, lithium, barium, strontium and traces of others. The alkaline nature of the water (pH 7, 7) has a highly prestigious curative and prophylactic effect against the widest variations of human sickness and degeneration such as exhaustion. These include but not solely limited to diseases of the musculoskeletal system, the andrology, gynecology and urology systems, diseases of nervous metabolism, chronic gastritis, colitis, gastrointestinal diseases, ulcers of the stomach and duodenum, various forms of rheumatism, arthritis and cronic arthrosis, diabetes, chronic liver desease, primary biliary cirrhosis and forms of eczema as well as strengthening the immune system and more. The pool with mineral water is 12.5 m wide, 25 m long and with a depth of between 1.6 m - 2.4 m. It was repaired and re-opened in June 2007 along with fully renovated bathrooms and showers, toilets and changing rooms. The site has a fully functional health centre and sells soft drinks open between 10-00am until 7-00pm.

If you fancy something with a bit more action then try the Hunting and Shooting complex. Built in 1984, the complex is located within the area of the "Hunting Park" in Polski Trambesh, there are indoor and outdoor shooting facilities including clay pigeons, a hunting and administrative building complex with a hotel, conference centre, restaurant and bar. It has hosted international tournaments and Republic of Bulgaria national shooting competitions.

Culturally, try asking for directions to the old school building, and you will discover a very interesting museum challenging all others in Bulgaria. One of its most emotional exhibits is a human skeleton discovered in a foetal position which is displayed in the centre of one of the old school rooms and was found during excavations near the village of Orlovets in 1993 and scientists have dated the individual to have died some 9000 years ago! In fact this old school house is alive with re-constructed faces and statues, pottery, jewelry and such like dating back from the 4th century BC. A young Thracian woman was buried nearby with her gold jewellery in 400 BC and interestingly they have all been found in the surrounding villages of the municipality of Polski Trambesh. Outside the old school lie tombstones of Roman noblemen who lived in the surrounding region some seventeen centuries ago and faces of some of these dead men can be seen carved on these stone tablets of remembrance. You can witness the Bulgarian aristocrat Mostich (showing the last traits of Asian facial features in a Bulgarian), who died in Preslav in the 10th Century AD, as well as Samuil, King of Bulgaria. All these statues of head reconstruction are scientific works of art based on the science of anthropological analysis of skulls, still used in severe homicide cases today, and were put together by the deceased professor Yordan Yordanov, born in Polski Trambesh and was the leading "maestro" in this scientific art.
